Spring Client Highlight: Rachael Dumas



Meet Rachael!

Rachael Dumas has been practicing barre at Studio Re for seven months!  Now as a momma-to-be, Rachael continues to take class to maintain wellness during her pregnancy.  As our Spring Highlight, we asked Rachael a few questions.  Here is what she has to say!

SR: What is a day in the life of Rachael?

RD: Most mornings I get up and head to Studio Re for my morning workout at 6am. Afterwards, I head home and start work around 8 (I work from home). When the weather is nice I usually go for a mid-afternoon walk just to get outside and away from my computer. Once work is finished up, I start to plan dinner – both my husband and I really enjoy cooking, so it is a nice way to unwind after a long day. On Saturdays, I go to Core Barre (at Studio Re) and usually spend the rest of the weekend trying new restaurants, bike riding and spending time with friends and family. I expect this will look a little different once baby arrives 🙂

SR: What is your favorite healthy food?

RD: I’m pretty obsessed with Kale at the moment. I put it in everything.

SR: And the one you can’t live without?

RD: This is hard… I eat yogurt almost every day and usually top it with blueberries, raspberries, and granola with flax. I also like making smoothies – they are so easy. I must admit, I can’t really live without ice cream – I love it! I usually treat myself once a week.

SR: On your day off what would we find you doing?

RD: I’m not very good at sitting still, so we are always doing something. I like spending days off enjoying the outdoors, trying new foods and hanging out with friends and family. My husband and I really like to travel as well, so we spend a lot of time visiting new cities, which is always fun. A couple of our recent adventures include Yountville, CA, Nashville, TN and New Orleans, LA.

SR: What is the motivation behind your workouts?

RD: There are a lot of things that motivate me, but right now my number one motivator is staying in shape for baby Dumas (set to arrive in July). I want to feel good as soon as I can after delivery, so working out throughout my pregnancy is a no-brainer.

 SR: What book would we find by your nightstand?

RD: Right now, I’m reading The Happiest Baby on the Block, Bringing up Bébé, and Brain Rules for Baby. Once I finish those, I’m looking forward to starting The Silkworm.

SR: What kind of success have you had at Studio Re?

RD: I think Studio Re has really helped my flexibility and my overall health. The combination of cardio and strength training is a good balance for someone who is looking to build muscle tone, but not bulk up. It has also really helped during my pregnancy. Everything seems tight and toned, which I hope will make for an easier delivery (fingers crossed).

SR: What advice would you have to working mothers in keeping up their health wellness?

RD: Although our little guy hasn’t arrived yet, I think it will be important for me to have “me” time. Studio Re gives me an opportunity to focus on myself, which will make me a happier wife and mom. Health is one of the most important things you have, so maintaining it should always be a priority.
